Prairie Remnants    Animal: Woolly Bear Caterpillar
Prev Animal(1 of 1)Next Animal

September 2006 - A Woolly Bear caterpillar on False Boneset with Rattlesnake Master in the background. This caterpillar is usually spotted crossing roads on warm late-fall days. An old tale claims the amount of black in the caterpillar's coat forecasts the severity of the coming winter. (Not true.)
The true mystery of the world is visible, not the invisible.
